About the NCSRP Plant Health Initiative

The North Central Soybean Research Program (NCSRP) was established in 1993 by state checkoff organizations in the North Central states. The Program's mission is to maximize producer returns by coordinating research efforts across state boundaries, minimizing regional duplication of research expenditures, and assuring regional research projects are targeted at problems of the North Central soybean producer. Our intention is to facilitate a true partnership among industry, university, media and growers in soybean research and information transfer.

Our goal for the Plant Health Initiative program is to provide soybean growers, universities, and industry with a database of the most current research-based information available on diseases and pests of soybean in the North Central region along with management solutions.

The NCSRP- PHI program objectives are
  • to coordinate research efforts by key industry and University soybean workers,
  • to develop a common information base on soybean plant health,
  • to make current, research-based information readily available to producers via fact sheets and web pages, and
  • to increase grower awareness of checkoff-funded research.

At this website you’ll find

  • Agronomic information covering everything from soil preparation, planting dates and seeding rates to managing for high yields and precision agriculture.
  • Diagnostic tools such as scouting guidelines and photo galleries, to help you identify and manage soybean pests and diseases.
  • Unbiased information on soybean pest and disease management and control strategies, from aphids and Asian rust to SCN and sudden death syndrome.
  • The latest research and recommendations on biological control, including the natural enemies that help control soybean aphid.
  • Links to national and state resources, such as soybean variety trials, crop reports and extension bulletins.
  • Free publications and materials detailing the latest research from NCSRP-funded scientists throughout the 12-state region.
