NCSRP

Founded by the North Central Soybean Research Program and funded by the Soybean Checkoff – this website provides information on soybean pests and diseases from checkoff-funded research, and from the university research and Extension programs of all 12 NCSRP partner states.

Trevor Glick, current president of the NCSRP Board of Directors.

The NCSRP coordinates regional research efforts on soybean pests and diseases, and facilitates information transfer to Midwest soybean growers.

The North Central Soybean Research Program (NCSRP) was established in 1992 by state checkoff organizations in the North Central states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

We are a farmer-led organization that invests soybean checkoff funds in research programs to better understand and manage plant stressors that reduce soybean yield and farmer profitability.

The mission of the NCSRP is to maximize producer returns by coordinating research efforts across state boundaries, minimizing regional duplication of research expenditures, and assuring regional research projects are targeted at problems of the North Central soybean producer.

NCSRP-funded Research

The NCSRP Board of Directors approved 11 research projects for funding in fiscal year 2013. Several of the projects are being jointly funded by the United Soybean Board and state checkoff boards. Read about the projects for 2013 on NCSRP.com

NCSRP Education and Outreach

To increase grower awareness of solutions for disease and insect problems, NCSRP also funds education and outreach projects that makes the information gained from checkoff-funded research readily available to soybean producers.

In particular, our soybean Plant Health Initiative project provides

  • this website, to serve as a regional platform for a common information base on soybean pests and diseases, provided by the university research and Extension programs of all 12 NCSRP partner states,
  • educational materials that will help soybean growers better manage soybean diseases and pests, including free publications detailing the latest research from NCSRP-funded scientists, and
  • sponsorship of conferences and workshops that highlight soybean disease research.
